Student Engagement and Leadership Development
In the Mechanical Engineering Department and the A. James Clark School of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering students have a variety of opportunities to engage with other engineering students through engineering related student organizations. We encourage students to explore these student organizations as they can provide meaningful experiences that help them build community at the University of Maryland (UMD) and develop their own leadership capacities. By combining their academic experiences with the learning and development students can achieve in student organizations, Mechanical Engineering students will be set up for success after they graduate from UMD.
Below is a list of engineering related student organizations in the Mechanical Engineering Department and the A. James Clark School of Engineering.
The Mechanical Engineering Department also provides support and programming for student organizations directly under the Mechanical Engineering Department to aide in their success.
If you’d like to talk more about joining a student organization or need support as a student organization leader, please contact:
Timmy Farrell, Academic Advisor for Undergraduate Studies, at farrell8@umd.edu.
